madison fashion director Fiona Kowalski dissects the runways of New York fashion week for the best looks and trends of the coming season ...
Alexander Wang
"It was always going to be hard-pressed to beat last season's sportwear hit. Wang is famous for his cool relaxed and approachable fashion. His Wall Street-inspired collection although on trend with the new feel emerging, felt too tricked up for him and his followers."

Karen Walker
"Karen Walker is renown for a great wear-anywhere-dress and perfect man-style preppy collegiate seperates, the combination of the two always unite for a clever combination of wearable pieces with her own quirky twist."

Marc Jacobs
"Marc Jacobs restrained collection of pale greys and beige gave a nod to the new clean direction that started with Phoebe Philo's debut catwalk collection for Celine last season. What we loved was the restained colour pallette, the menswear inspired pieces, the new mid-length and the slight overtones of self referencing to his own most iconic grunge collection, seen with the oversized nubbly sweaters over floorlength velvet evening dresses. This collection while safe and wearable, felt really fresh and new."

Donna Karan
"From a mainly black and dark collection, (there were touches of other colours, but not much) came classic Donna Karan. Fabulous, minimal pieces used texture and shine to standout in a sea of dark tones. The cocoon sculptured coat features in various textures felt modern and new and would definitely be the working woman's great choice as an easy throw on. Karan excelled at what she does best, dressing the working modern woman."
